Screenwriting & Directing
From Paper to Film
Playing to the left is an example of how Jason's screenwriting and directing talents translate to film and video. Jason's philosophy on directing is to first communicate with each actor on which appraches work best for him/her. Once these individual methods and triggers have been identified, he can then assist the talent in creating a convincing performance.
Jason's approach to screenwriting is to "show, not tell." Whenever possible, he tries to write scenes where the plot's meaning is conveyed more through facial expressions and physical actions (or, in some cases, a lack thereof) instead of relying on dialogue to explain what is going on. In many of his scripts, Jason likes to focus on how something is said (or concealed) instead of what is said, placing a significant amount of trust in his actors' abilities later on during production.
